Symonds Auto's was established in 1988 and has been selling quality pre-owned vehicles for over twenty years.
The company was founded by father and son team Greg and the late Graham Symonds.
The company started from humble beginnings and was based on the forecourt of Harding's Motor Services a Trek filling and service station situated in Wetton rd Wynberg.
In the early 1990's the company moved to it's current location in Mowbray, 72 Durban rd and the bustling used car hub became an icon for many to follow.
The late Graham Symonds was a true motoring man and brought with him decades of motoring experience.
Graham ran one of the most successful Toyota dealerships in the country and added tremendous value as he had years of experience in running workshops, panelshops as well as new and used car franchises.
He had a huge following of clients and friends and he was passionate about the motoring industry one of the reasons he was so successful.
Greg Symonds grew up around the motor trade and was always passionate about the business and motorsport.
Greg did his apprenticeship at Market Toyota learning mechanical as well as reconditioning skills.
Greg was offered a sales position and joined the Barlow's Motor Group and made a name for himself at Auto Atlantic BMW in Kloof St Cape Town in the sales department where he excelled.
Barlow's were so impressed with Greg and his excellent sales and trading skills that he was promoted to Group Used Car Manager a position he held for a number of years before starting his own business.
Greg and Graham saw an opportunity to open a pre-owned car dealership that was based on the corner stones of quality full service history accident free vehicles.
Symonds Auto's was opened in 1988 and the company offered it's client's personal attention, professional service, superb after sales care and pristine vehicles a hallmark of a Symonds Auto's vehicle and a tradition and standard we deliver in our business.
The company was doing so well that the Symond's team employed a young salesman by the name of Drew Spink only 18 at the time of his recruitment.
Drew came from a motor trade family and he soon proved his worth by excelling in the sales field and was promoted to open and run the second branch of Symond's Auto’s that was situated in Rosmead Avenue in Kenilworth.
The branch did exceptionally well under his management overseen by the expert guidance of mentors Greg and Graham Symonds.
The late Graham Symonds sadly passed away a few years ago; however Greg and Drew carry on a very proud tradition of selling cars of the highest quality, community involvement, charity work and always going the extra mile for our clients.
